If you’ve never changed your WordPress theme, it’s like taking a leap without seeing where you are landing. Yes, you can see what your content would look like but only as a preview. If your old theme doesn’t have the same features as your new theme, then your website or blog may look quite jumbled for a bit. I’m eyeing two themes that I really like, and I’ve been looking to see what I’ll need to change to make my content look best, but I also know it will require some tweaking no matter what I do. It’s still okay. I’m ready for the change and the chance to really make my blog look the way I want it to.
Do I activate it immediately? Do I activate it at night so I can make changes when fewer people are accessing it? Do I take down the whole site for a few days and put it back up again later? What do I change about my old content to make it fit the new theme? I already know I need better feature images and categories so that’s something I could fix before I do a new theme. Will it require more work? Yes. Will it be worth it? Also, yes.
When I said I wanted to try something new that felt more like myself, I knew there would be more work involved. Change comes with effort. My blog may look a little ragged over the next month, but it will be more reflective of the content I want to share. What I know is that I just need patience with myself, and I hope others will have patience with me as I work on a new theme.
I would write a longer post, but honestly, I want to work on preparing for the new theme. I’m keeping it short today.
If you are looking at trying something new, stop waiting. Dive in and see what happens. It’s all about the adventure.
