As Thanksgiving approached, I found myself running short on time, and I needed to make a decision. I could either throw all my attention into spending time with my family, cleaning for company, and planning/cooking the Thanksgiving meal, or I could give some of my attention to my blogs and shortchange the holiday. For me, it was a no-brainer.

I decided to set aside writing any posts so I could focus on the holiday and my family, and it was the right decision. At first, I kept thinking I should sit down and do some writing and then get back to cleaning or grocery shopping, but then I would think about it a little longer. While I would have loved to sit down and write, I also recognized it would leave me short on time and feeling stressed. I focused on the holiday.
We have entered the end-of-year holiday season, and we will be going from one place to another until New Year’s Day. It’s okay to set aside some work plans to enjoy time with family and decrease the stress level. That’s exactly what I’m doing this year. I don’t want to feel anxiety, stress, frustration, or anger during the holidays. I want to have the time to enjoy being with family.
Take some extra time with family or friends this holiday season. Find ways to relax more often. If you prefer to spend the holidays alone, do what makes you feel content. Our mental health matters all the time, but during the rush of the holiday season, we should take a little extra time to focus on healthy mental habits. Our minds and emotional states are just as important as our bodies so let’s remember to care for them especially this time of year.

Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, CSB)
