Keys to Success: Be Willing to Change What Isn’t Working

There are times when all the plans are made. All the pieces are in place. All the things that should work have been done. Money and sweat equity have been invested.

Then nothing happens.

We give it a bit more time, but still nothing happens.

It might be time to make a difficult decision. When something isn’t working, there comes a time when we should be willing to change our plan. We may be resistant to these changes at first because we devoted time, effort, and money into our best laid plans, but it may be far more damaging if we don’t accept the reality that something doesn’t work.

As a writer, I’ve already had to make some of these decisions about utilizing my skills, and I’m planning on making more in the future. Whether you view it as a strategic move or a failure, don’t dwell on it. Learn from what didn’t work, and use the information to make your new plans better. When our best laid plans don’t go as hoped, there is nothing wrong with adapting our plan to create growth. Be more concerned if you are unwilling to adapt when change is needed.

Make changes when you see they are necessary, but if a plan is working, stay the course.
