I’ve been researching how to improve my blog because there are plenty of bloggers out there who are way better at the process than I am, and they have put the time in to make their blogs amazing. I’m not obsessed with being an amazing blogger, but I am keen to be a good, informative blogger who can help other people with my writing. Even if my end goals aren’t as lofty, I still want to take the time to make a good blog because then I can share my experiences with others.
I like to learn new skills, and I’m taking in a lot of new information as I figure out WordPress. Is it weird to say that I’m having fun learning all about widgets, block editing, pages, posts, themes, and plug-ins? I don’t want to be afraid of learning new skills that I can put to use so I keep pressing forward watching videos, reading suggestions, and absorbing all I can. When I can’t remember, I re-watch the video and re-read the suggestions.
One of the things I’ve been studying is how to handle multiple blogs so I can write about the variety of subjects in which I’m interested. I’m not one-dimensional, and neither is anyone else. I want to write about more of my interests, but I don’t want to bore people with subjects in which they aren’t interested. I’m nowhere near ready to even start a second blog, much less a third or fourth, but I’m learning how to make a blog informative and helpful by narrowing the scope. It’s so interesting to read the experiences of other bloggers and how they maintain multiple blogs at once, and this idea definitely appeals to my writing hopes.
But I digress. As of right now, I’m working on blogging regularly, decluttering, finishing my last class for an associate’s degree, and finding a job to pay the bills. That’s a full plate for anyone, but in my spare time, I’m trying to learn how to improve what I do. For the present time, my blog will be all over the place because I’m just working on making it a regular part of my schedule. I’ll learn about WordPress and improve my site and blog, and then when I feel ready, I’ll begin to narrow my focus.
As a final note, I’ve been researching monetizing my blog because I have to make a living, and blogging will eventually be part of my income stream. I’m curious to see how the process works, but I also know that I need to improve my content and focus and appeal to more readers. My brain is just soaking up new information left and right, and sometimes I have to take a break because I get overwhelmed. I’ll see how that process goes.
