I Think God Is Trying to Tell Me Something **

I know that’s a controversial title for some, but I believe God communicates with us in all kinds of ways. If you wonder how, let me give you an example.

In the holiday rush, I’ve been neglecting a couple of piles of items in my bedroom, and I decided this evening was the right time to take care of them. As I worked, I kept finding notepads and notebooks with blank pages. You may be wondering how I think that’s a message from God.

Well, to tell the truth, I’ve been feeling the nudge to return to my writing. I’ve been leaving a notebook open all week in which I record writing ideas that randomly pop up, but I’ve not really taken time to write something substantial with full paragraphs.

As I sit here writing, I can see the second teetering stack waiting to be sorted, and do you know what I’m seeing? More paper!

Ever since I was a child, my parents could take me to a store, and I would often come home with paper and a pen. Remember the little “bookstores” they had at school. Those closets converted into miniature school supply stores had colorful notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, and erasers. I was always so jealous when someone could afford to buy items there all the time.

My love of the written word was born into me. I love books and paper and pens and pencils. I love good old-fashioned yellows pencils for writing even though I initially wrote this blog with a pen. Ha!

Anyway, as I’m getting ready to enjoy the Christmas holiday with my family, I’m taking all this paper as a sign from God to begin writing again. If practice makes perfect, I think God is trying to tell me I’m a bit out of tune. Here is my first bit of practice with a gentle push from God. If you read this and have time, please leave a comment about a unique way God has communicated with you before.
